Client Overview and Design Brief

This project was developed for a newly built residence in Bodrum. The client approached us for support with the interior decoration and furnishing of the main living area. Although the apartment benefited from contemporary architecture and generous natural light, the overall footprint of the living space was relatively compact. The client wanted the home to feel refined, warm, contemporary, and visually distinctive without overwhelming the space.

A key priority of the brief was to maximize comfort and functionality while preserving a strong visual identity and maintaining an airy, uncluttered atmosphere appropriate for a coastal property.

Create a warm contemporary interior with a calm and welcoming atmosphere

Design Approach

Because of the limited dimensions of the space, standard furniture proportions would have visually compressed the room and negatively impacted circulation. For this reason, nearly all furniture pieces were custom designed and produced specifically for the project. Every dimension was carefully studied to ensure visual lightness, functionality, and balance.

The overall design direction focused on warm contemporary living with organic influences. A palette of soft neutral tones, warm woods, textured textiles, and natural finishes was selected to enhance the feeling of openness and comfort. Sculptural black pendant lighting was intentionally introduced as a contrasting architectural element, helping to create rhythm and visual identity within the otherwise soft material composition.

One of the defining elements of the project became the large-scale artistic wall composition positioned behind the seating area. This feature introduced movement, depth, and emotional character into the space while allowing the interior to maintain a minimal and refined decorative approach.

The furniture layout was carefully organized to create fluidity between the dining and living zones. Rather than treating each element independently, the sofa composition, coffee tables, dining setup, lighting, and accessories were developed as one cohesive architectural language.

Natural light also played an important role in the project. Light fabrics, reflective surfaces, and layered textures were used to preserve brightness during the daytime while creating a softer and more intimate atmosphere in the evening.

Implementation Considerations

Due to the compact nature of the apartment, precision during the design and production phases was essential. Custom furniture manufacturing required careful coordination to ensure each piece responded perfectly to the proportions of the space.
Particular attention was also given to maintaining visual balance between darker sculptural elements and softer neutral surfaces. The integration of the artistic wall treatment required careful alignment with the furniture layout and lighting composition to ensure the feature enhanced the architecture rather than visually overpowering the room
The project involved close attention to scale, material transitions, circulation clearances, and the relationship between decorative and functional elements.

Outcome

The completed project resulted in a warm, contemporary coastal residence that feels significantly more spacious and refined than its actual footprint. Through custom-designed furniture and carefully balanced material selections, the apartment achieved both functionality and visual sophistication.

The final interior combines comfort, architectural clarity, and artistic expression while maintaining the relaxed atmosphere expected from a Bodrum residence. The project demonstrates how thoughtful spatial planning and bespoke design solutions can transform compact living environments into elegant and highly personalized homes.
