Eagle’s Nest – Part 2

Executive Office Retreat

Grandvaux

Switzerland

The husband of the client from the chill room project, a high-level executive, sought a private office space within the chill room. The main requirement was that the office be separated from the rest of the space while maintaining access to natural light, as the area originally had no windows.

Client Overview and Design Brief

The husband of the client from the chill room project, a high-level executive, sought a private office space within the chill room. The main requirement was that the office be separated from the rest of the space while maintaining access to natural light, as the area originally had no windows.

Project Objectives

•Office Design: Create a dedicated office space within the chill room, separated from the rest of the room to ensure privacy while maintaining access to natural light.

•Space Efficiency: Ensure that the design was flexible, with the ability to open or close the office space when needed.

•Coordination of Metal Construction Work: Collaborate with a metal construction company to implement structural elements in the design.

Design Approach

•Separation and Natural Light: Since the original area had no windows, we incorporated a transparent design using glass elements in the sliding doors to allow natural light to flow into the office space from the rest of the room.

•Sliding Door Solution: To maximize space, we opted for sliding doors, allowing the executive to close off the office for privacy and open it up when needing to make the room feel more spacious.

•Custom Construction Coordination: We coordinated with a metal construction company to ensure the structural integrity and aesthetic of the sliding doors and surrounding frame. The use of metal added a modern and industrial touch, aligning with the client's preferences.

Implementation Considerations

•Natural Light Flow: The use of glass panels and sliding doors ensured that the office would remain bright and open.

•Privacy and Flexibility: The sliding doors offer flexibility, allowing the space to be closed off when necessary, ensuring that the executive can work in peace without disrupting the rest of the house.

•Professional Aesthetic: The materials and design choices were selected to reflect the high executive status of the client, incorporating sleek, modern elements that offer both practicality and style.

Outcome

The office space was successfully integrated into the chill room, offering a dedicated and private area for the executive while maintaining access to natural light. The use of sliding doors allowed the space to remain flexible, and the overall design reflects the client’s need for both functionality and privacy within a shared space.
